A hundred faces, a hundred stories; People standing (Aila Cyclone, West Bengal, 2009)
The storm killed at least 149 people in India, and hundreds were left homeless as torrential rains led to flooding. High winds uprooted numerous trees, blocking roads and damaging property throughout the region. More than 15,000 people in eight villages were left isolated which made it hard for rescue teams to reach them*.
All the characters captured in this image have their own storylines and emotions. Everybody has their attention caught on something or the other. Few are focused on the boat that is arriving, some are more focused on the games they are playing and some probably lost in thought of where the disaster have been brought them. It is a picture with a hundred stories of how everyone views a disaster.
