Boats washed ashore on the coast on the Tamil Nadu coast post Tsunami in 2004

The tsunami caused immense destruction of life and livelihood in the region. Worst affected in Tamil Nadu were the regions- Nagapattinam, Chennai, Cuddalore, Velankanni and Poompuhar. Over 8,000 people lost their lives in Tamil Nadu itself*.

Its bewildering how all these powerful and strong innovations we make fail in front of a disaster. Be it the strong stable foundation of our homes, powerful big boats or even the old trees which had stayed longer than the lifetime of a human, none are pardoned by a disaster. It comes uninvited in our lives and takes everything away in miniscule seconds.
